Kenneth A. Christofferson, age 90, passed Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Ken, simply Chris to his many friends or Swish to his family, was born on June 7, 1921 to Carl and Mabel Christofferson in Boone, Iowa. After graduating from high school, he attended business college in Des Moines, Iowa where he met his wife of 68 years, Erna Ehspanner. Ken enlisted in the Air Corps and served 4 years during WWII. After discharge from the service, he began his career with Interstate Brands, taking him from Des Moines to Oklahoma City and retiring in 1983, after 37 years of employment. Ken was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church as well as a 32nd degree Mason. Immediate survivors include his wife, Erna, of Bethany; daughter, Cathy Suchy of Bethany; and son, James Christofferson and wife Laura of Edmond. Grandchildren include Scott and Kelly Suchy, OKC, Shannon and Mark Peregrin, Edmond, Shay and Kyle Payne, Maryville, MO, and Cory Christofferson, Edmond; eight great-grandchildren: Cate and Turner Suchy, Joe, Jack and Drew Peregrin, Ethan, Emery and Eli Payne. He is also survived by his brother, Maurice Christofferson and wife Marie, Ankeny, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Viewing will be Thursday, 9am-9pm with the family present from 7-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany on Friday, December 30, 10:00am with graveside services to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Kens name to Bethany Childrens Center.
