Kenneth Claud Blevins was born February 10, 1942,in Ringling, OK, to Kenneth Carl and LaWanda Claudia Blevins. Both Ken and his sister, Kay Sandra, were raised by their grandparents, Robert Claud and Jewel Mae Boyd, in Davis, OK. Ken was a 1960 graduate of Davis High School and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX, from 1966-1968 and then two years in the US Army Reserves. He met Julie Ann Mitchell at Oklahoma Baptist University and they married on June 24, 1967,with Ken later returning to OBU to graduate in 1969 with a BA in History and Religion. Julie and Ken moved to Oklahoma City in 1969. Ken held various jobs after college graduation but worked for Lance, Inc, as a salesman from July 1977-August 2001. During his 24 years with Lance, Ken was Top Salesman in the USA in 1983 and in the Top Ten for five years. Ken and Julie had three children, K. Christopher, Mitchell Boyd, and Joanna Joy. Ken made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ at the age of fourteen. Ken and Julie were longtime members of Olivet Baptist Church, where Ken served as a Sunday School teacher and on various committees. Ken also was an elder for Gospel Celebration Fellowship where he worked as a volunteer driver for the Department of Corrections and transported inmates to church. Ken's hobby was songwriting. The couple began attending Crossings Community Church in 2007 when Julie's mother was too ill to attend church alone. Tragedy struck the family twice in one day with the death of Ken's sister, Kay Drake, also on March 29, 2012. Ken is survived by his wife, Julie, of OKC and three children, K. Christopher Blevins of Edmond, OK, and Mitchell Blevins and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City, and Joanna Blevins of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Shelby Blevins, Cooper Blevins, Grace Blevins, and Harper Blevins. Other survivors include his brother-in-law Bob Drake of Davis, OK, and sisters-in-law Kaye Dunn Robinson and husband Dan of Highlands, NC, and Vicki Mitchell and partner Pat Grossman of Albuquerque, NM. Survivors also include nieces and nephews, Whitney Drake and son Whitman of Norman, OK, Joe Tom and Nancy Drake and children Tabbetha and Heath of Davis, OK, Stephen Dunn of OKC, and Kimberly Dunn of Garland, TX. Ken's life will be celebrated in a Memorial Service on Tuesday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at Crossings Community Church Chapel, 14600 N. Portland, Oklahoma City. Inurnment will be at Resurrection Memorial Cemetary in a private ceremony.
