Kelley Allen Chase, 38, of Taos, New Mexico, passed away on October 13th, 2012, at Mercy Hospital after a serious brain injury incurred as a police recruit during training at the Oklahoma City Police Department training center. He was born August 7th, 1974, in Taos, New Mexico, the son of Jacquelyn E. Anderson and Laurence L. Chase, who survive. He was the youngest of three siblings. On April 19th, 2008, he married Elke Chantal Mees of Wilrijk, Belgium, who survives. He graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1996. Since then he served in the United States Air Force as an Air Battle Manager, providing command and control in military operations around the globe. He reached the pinnacle of his career field and served as an instructor Mission Crew Commander training aircrew to prepare and deploy in support of national interests around the world until November 2011. In the course of his flying deployments, Major Chase was awarded six air medals for 61 combat sorties and over 800 combat and combat support hours. He also attained his Masters in Business Administration at Oklahoma City University in 2004. He is survived by his nearly two-year-old daughter, Alesia Eileen Mees Chase; three-year-old son, Kyle Roland Mees Chase; and sister, Victoria Grasmick. Kelley Chase was preceded in death by his infant brother Christopher K. Chase. A memorial service will be held at Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with full police and military honors on Friday 26th of October at 3.30 pm. Major Chase will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, New Mexico, with full military honors. A Kelley Chase Memorial Fund has been opened in his memory at the Bank of Oklahoma.
