Kathleen Jean Artman Dove came into this life on August 14, 1941 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. She departed this life with a gentle whisper from her Shepherd-Savior calling her name in the morning hours of December 24, 2020 after having finished her race of 79 years, and a long battle with cancer.
Kathleen, better known as Kathy, and aka, MawMaw, lived a life that was focused on people. She was kind, generous, and loving. A devoted follower of Jesus, she had been a part of a body of believers all of her life beginning at University Heights Baptist as a child, Mayfair Baptist for 25 years and at Council Road Baptist for the last 27 years of her life. She enjoyed the fellowship she had there as well as with Bible Study Fellowship, in which she had been involved from the mid-1970's until 2019. She enjoyed being with friends, eating out, shopping and the thrill of finding a deal but her greatest joy, outside of Jesus, came from being with her grand and great-grandchildren. The LORD blessed her with both living near many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as being able to travel to many different places to visit them.
Kathy graduated from John Marshall High School in 1959 as the class valedictorian and went on to Oklahoma City University. She married Bill Dove in 1961 while working at Southwestern Bell Telephone in the directory department. She left after 6 years, choosing to stay at home raising their 3 daughters until the girls were all in school full time. She returned to the workforce in 1981 as an office administrator and bookkeeper, eventually retiring from IBC Bank. She and her husband divorced in 1992. Following her retirement, she enjoyed her time as a nanny for several years caring for the Owens children, Abby and Jacob.
Mawmaw is survived by her 3 beloved daughters; Leesa, Lori and Heather; Leesa's husband Tom Morgan and their 2 daughters Kara and Holly; Kara's husband, Evan Bolton and their 3 sons, Rowen (5yrs), Ryder (2yrs), River (11months) and Holly's husband, Matt Rodgers, all of Texas; Lori's husband Tim Morlan and their 11 children, Zach, Tori and her husband Lucas Lunsford and their daughter Naomi Dove (8 months) of Tulsa, Mac, Emily, Seth, Sam, Ben, Haddon, Zoe, Izabelle and Titus, all of Oklahoma City; and Heather's husband, Lt. Col. Jason Mathre and their 4 children, Carson, Bryson, Harrison and Madison, all of North Dakota via Virginia, Colorado, Hawaii, Germany and Texas.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Ray "Boss" Artman, Nellie (Nell) Artman, and her brother, Gary Ray Artman. Her hope of salvation was based on Christ alone and in His work for her. She trusted Him as her Savior and we have the good hope that she is with Him right now and that her reunion with family who trusted in Jesus as well has been sweet.
