Katherine E. Kietzman, age 88, passed away on November 27, 2020 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born November 28, 1931 in Halstead, KS, to John (Jack) Casey and Elizabeth Shriver Casey. Katherine grew up in Coffeyville, KS and graduated from Coffeyville High School in 1950. While attending Coffeyville Jr. College, she met the love of her life, Charles Kietzman. They were married on September 2, 1951 in Baldwin City, KS.
Katherine and Charles made a home for their 3 children in Tulsa, and then later, in Oklahoma City. Katherine was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a long-time organist at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Tulsa. After moving to Oklahoma City in 1971, the family attended Grace United Methodist Church. Upon Charles retirement in 1992, Katherine and Charles relocated to Claremore, OK, where they were very active in various ministries of Claremore First United Methodist Church.
Over the years, Katherine enjoyed volunteering in many capacities. She was a member of United Methodist Women and served as president of the Pilot International chapter in Claremore. Katherine especially enjoyed playing the piano for a variety of organizations and was known for remembering birthdays of many friends and loved ones with a special card or greeting. Katherine and Charles moved back to Oklahoma City in 2012 and enjoyed life as residents of Concordia Life Care Community. They loved to travel and were blessed to be able to visit many places of interest.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles; children, Debi Ports and husband, Mike, of Glendale, AZ, Jacque Perkins and husband, Lawrence, of Wichita, KS, and Chuck Kietzman and wife, Cindy, of Oklahoma City; sister, DonnaDee Chastain and husband, Mel, of Manhattan, KS; 6 grandchildren; Kari, Kyle, Kristin, Ashley, Casey and Kelli; and 15 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Riley, Jordyn, Larkyn, Nola, Kassidy, Lena, Rachel, Claire, Darcy, Kennedy, Conner, Will, Isla and Dominic. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to American Parkinson Disease Association. Viewing will be Wednesday 9am-9pm at Mercer-Adams with family present from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 3 at 2:00pm at the Mercer-Adams Chapel.
