Karen Gayle Schott May 26, 1949 May 26, 2017 Karen Gayle Schott of Oklahoma City, Okla. was born at St. Anthony Hospital on May 26, 1949 to Earl E. and Mary L. Schott. She was accepted into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on her 68th birthday. After receiving her Medical Technology degree from Okla. State University, she would spend a full and gratifying career of 44 years in the medical laboratory (blood bank) at St. Anthony Hospital. She was very athletic throughout her life, enjoying tennis, racquetball, hiking and snow skiing. She especially enjoyed her family and was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews as well as their children. Karen is survived by her mother, Mary L. Schott; her aunts, Nancy Will of Okla. City and Betty Sanders of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; her brothers, Earl Schott, Jr. (Pat) of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Col. (Ret.) Carl A. Schott (Cindy) of Mesa, Ariz.; her nephews and nieces, Dr. Earl E. Schott, III, of Denver, Col.; Steven C. Schott of Broken Arrow; Ann Newman (Robert, children Maren and Mitchell) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Connie Kirkman (Jeff) of Gilbert, Ariz.; Carl A. Schott Jr. (Shannon, children Faith and Zane) of Gilbert, Ariz.; her great-nieces, Piper Newman of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Madison Dillon (Alex, children Isabel and Everleigh) of Fort Bliss, Tex.; her dear friend, Melody L. Martin of Edmond, Okla.; and many other close friends and co-workers too numerous to name. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Earl E. Schott, Sr. Karen was a friend to everyone she met and was like a family member to a number of her closest friends. She so loved children and they seemed to be magically drawn to her. She was known as "Aunt Karen" to all of her friends children as well as many of her co-workers children too. She was a beautiful example of love and selflessness. Her legacy shines because she always practiced Jesuss command to "love one another." Karen was a charter member of Church of the Servant, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd., Okla. City, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, June 2nd. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Okla. City, will be private for family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation: www.omrf.org
