Obituary

K. Raymond Tarter was born on June 5, 1922 to caring parents, Austin and Florence Tarter, on their family farm in El Reno, OK, one of six children. He was preceded in death by his very faithful wife of over 64 years, Mary Lou; his parents and 5 siblings. Survived by a wonderful son, Steve & beautiful daughter-in-law, Rhonda, of Yukon; 2 beautiful grandchildren, Nick Tarter & wife Stacey, Stefanie Covey & husband Alan; 3 beautiful great grandchildren, Ellie Grace, Reuben Cason and Rachel Annette; and numerous nieces and nephews in El Reno. Raymond was a graduate of Baptist Bible College in 1954 and he spent 30 years in the OKC School System. He was a faithful member of Council Road Baptist since 1983, where he attended with his children, grandchildren and many friends. Before that time, he attended First Baptist of Yukon for 10 years and First Baptist Church of Bethany for 25 years. He was very active in performing in the Rodeo Circuit, winning 2nd place in Bull Riding in 1943 and 1944 and rode in many parades. He joined the El Reno Wrangler's as a Charter member in 1942 when a small group met in Legion Park in El Reno and grew to be a large group. Prior to his death, he was the only Charter member still living. Viewing will be Wednesday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at The CUBE at Council Rd. Baptist Church, 7903 N.W. 30th St., Bethany, followed by interment in El Reno Cemetery.
