Reverend June Loretta (Droke) Shaw was born June 6, 1923 at Putnam, Oklahoma. She passed away on August 25, 2014. She and her twin brother were the youngest of seven children born to William Wesley and Elizabeth Droke. Preceding her in death were her parents; her four brothers, Martin S. Droke, Raymond A. Droke, William E. Droke, and Gene L. Droke; her two sisters, Sarah L. Stanton and Oma D. Droke; and her husband, Rev. Jesse Bryant Shaw. She leaves behind Rev. and Mrs. Eugene Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Barrett, her grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews, her church family at Spring Creek and her friends at Cooperlake Estates in Edmond. At the age of fifteen, June was converted and became interested in working in the church. She graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, received her B.S. degree from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas and received a Master's degree from Tulsa University. She taught English at high schools in Tulsa, Clinton, and Elk City, Oklahoma. She also taught at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. In 1963, June married Rev. Jesse Shaw. Rev. Shaw and June were ministers in Fort Scott, Phillipsburg and Topeka, Kansas. In 1983, they moved to Oklahoma City where they ministered in the Edmond Cathedral of Hills Church. Rev. Shaw passed away in 1991. June continued to work in the church and substitute teach in the Oklahoma school system and received her teacher retirement in Oklahoma. Viewing by family and friends will be Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 10am to 9pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Spring Creek Assembly of God, 1600 E. 15th St., Edmond, OK 73013 at 10:00am. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond, OK.
