Obituary

June Avis Beaty Phillips, 92, went peacefully to be with the Lord the morning of May 5, 2012 in Bremerton, Washington. June was born to Koy and Vesta Beaty on December 29, 1919 near Riverton, Kansas. She graduated from Riverton High School in 1937, then earned her first teaching certificate at age 18, as she wanted to be a teacher since the 4th grade. Realizing she could do more with additional education, she attended Bethany-Peniel College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education in 1948. While she taught a variety of ages and subjects during her career, her favorite age was 5th grade and she was also the school's music teacher. Later in her career, she earned a Masters of Arts from Alamosa State College in 1975 and ultimately retired in 1981. Committing her life to Christ at age 11, she started using her music and teaching talents in ministry and service. From playing music to a small Quaker congregation as a young woman, to everywhere she went after that, you could find her playing instruments, singing and teaching. She always provided music and blessing to others in her service to Christ. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, traveling, painting, and writing. Her favorite activity was leisure time with family and friends. June was preceded in death by her husband, Wendal. Three of her siblings, Francis, Henry and Naomi also preceded her. She is survived by her brother, Cooper Beaty of Broken Arrow, OK; her sister, Dorothy Cox of Joplin, MO; her brother, Sam Beaty of League City, TX; her son, MacGregor Allison of Bremerton, WA; her grandchildren, Holly Zuckerman and husband Chris of Tucson, AZ and Stuart Allison of Hillsboro, OR; and numerous extended family members. Viewing will be Friday, 9am-9pm with the family present from 3-5pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 19, 10:00AM at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Bethany Cemetery. Those who desire may make memorials to OKC Compassion Inc., 1121 N. Pennsylvania Ave, OKC, OK 73107, (405) 410-8082. Chapel Service Saturday, May 19, 2012 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Mercer-Adams Chapel 3925 N. Asbury Bethany, OK 73008
