June
Myers
Nov 16, 1927 — Dec 25, 2025
Alta June (Bailey) Myers passed away peacefully in her sleep on Jesus' birthday, December 25, 2025, at the age of 98 in Oklahoma City. She was born on November 16, 1927, in Apache, Oklahoma to Herbert and Hazel Bailey as one of eight children. June graduated from Apache High School in 1946, then married Alvin "Jack" Myers, Sr. on August 31, 1946. They remained married for over 60 years until his passing in May of 2011.
June was a bookkeeper for her husband's plumbing business as well as a housewife and mother. She raised three children, Jack, Christy and Alvin Jr, while making appointments and making sure the business records were in order. She also attended the Draughon School of Business at one point in her life to learn more about her role in the family business.
June enjoyed playing the piano and excelled at it, playing for her Sunday School class at Portland Avenue Baptist Church as well as entertaining family and friends regularly. She passed her musical talents on to her children and was always focused on supporting them in their activities.
She was an excellent cook, following in her mother's footsteps, but also creating new recipes of her own. She made sure the family always had great regular meals to eat, with butter and garlic being key ingredients.
June was also a loving and caring mother. In addition to being a great mother to her children, she also had a huge hand in caring for her grandchildren, being at their events and encouraging them. She loved her family and was always ready to encourage and protect them when she saw the need.
June had a very fruitful and long life of loving and caring for others. She was a great sister to her siblings and aunt to their families. She was also a great friend to many and enjoyed socializing through conversations, meals and game nights. June had a sharp mind and memory until the very end, which made her a prolific storyteller. Many family members would come to see her in hopes of getting to hear one of her stories.
June was always particular about how she was dressed, having hair done and makeup on so she would present herself well. Even on her last day when she wasn't feeling her best she made sure of this.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Christy; her parents; sisters, Leatrice and Pat; and brothers, Bud, Walter, Danny and Dickey.
She is survived by her son, Jack Myers (Liz) of Kerrville, TX; son, Alvin Myers, Jr. (Joetta) of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Harmony Munroe (Toby) of Aurora, CO, Jackson Myers (Suzanne) of Roanoke, TX, Ashley Moriarty (Tim) of Edmond, OK, and Derek Myers (Kelley) of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Loudon, Adair, Caden, Hayden and Madison June; brother, Stanley Bailey (Betty) of Cyril, OK; sister-in-law, Wilda Bailey (Dickey) of Apache, OK; sister-in-law, Robin Bailey (Walter); and many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Special thanks to the caregivers and staff at Southern Plaza Assisted Living where she lived for the last 2+ years, for providing great care and making her feel at home when she had to transition from her primary home. Also special thanks to the Baptist Village Skilled Nursing caregivers and staff for caring for her in her final days.
