Julia DeSaix Allyn suddenly passed away on Sunday, November 9. Julia was born March 25, 1950 in New York, New York to Charles and Mary (Cordell) Matheis. Julia had a rich family heritage. The Cordell/Napton family is one of the oldest families in the United States, predating the Revolutionary War. She attended the University of Nevada and the University of Houston. She was a dedicated mother and Christian. Among her many accomplishments she performed with Up With People and served as Co-Chair of the California Chapter of the National Organization of Episcopalians for Life. Recently, she was a strong supporter of missionary work throughout the world including Vietnam and Egypt. Julia is survived by her husband Daniel Allyn; her children Glenn Allyn, Elizabeth Allyn, Emily Woodham; six grandchildren Caitlyn Woodham, Joshua Woodham, Ian Woodham, Joseph Woodham, Mitchell Allyn and Guenevere Allyn; and brothers Robert Matheis and Thomas Matheis. Viewing will be at Mercer-Adams Tuesday evening and Wednesday. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday, November 12, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 13 at Putnam City Baptist Church followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to Putnam City Baptist Church marked for mission work.
