Obituary

Josie (Finefrock) Harris, 98, passed on February 18, 2024. She was born January 11, 1926 to Emory and Thelma Finefrock in Madison, Kansas. She was sister to Emory, Marca and Elinor. Josie married Jack Harris, June 12, 1948 and they celebrated 54 years of marriage. She attended OCW, OCU and UCO where she studied sociology, textile and wallpaper design, weaving, pottery and jewelry making.

Josie was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed oil painting, tole painting, bridge and golf. She led Campfire Girls, St. Luke's MYF, Bible study at Bethany First Church and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Cancer Care. Sales positions at Bell Telephone Co., JC Penney, Rothschild's, Willmann's Furriers and Jerome's suited her genuine interest in people. Above all, Josie was a devoted mother and grandmother who aimed to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself." (Luke 10:27)

Josie is loved in life and death by her family: son, Michael Harris; daughter and son-in-law, Kelsie and Gary Grubitz; grandchildren, Brandon (deceased), Cameron, Kenzie and Zach Simpson, and Will and Christina Grubitz; great-grandchildren, Cassia, Ella and Hazel; along with her many loyal and devoted friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, February 29 in the Chapel in the Round at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
