Obituary

Joshua (Josh) Allen Blair McBeth, died October 2, 2008. He was born September 5, 1982 in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Classen School of Advanced Studies as a National Merit scholar as well as an Oklahoma All-State scholar. He attended Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas on a full scholarship and graduated in 2005 with a BS in Economics. He was also the recipient of numerous other academic and civic awards. Josh lived in Oklahoma City with his life partner, Joan Brinkworth, whom he cherished and loved deeply. He worked as a general contractor/handyman, which he loved because it allowed him to work with his hands. Josh was the love and light of all who knew him well. He loved traveling and rock climbing. He loved to cook and never met a meal he didnt like. Josh constantly sought new challenges and adventures and was never afraid to explore and venture into the unknown. He had an acerbic wit and could light up any conversation with his ideas and thoughts. He loved reading, music, art and creating with his hands. One of his great joys was a heated discussion. Many the person has tried and failed to win an argument with him over politics. Joshs life was a joy and blessing to all who loved him and he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his newborn son, Kai Allen Morningstar, who he had not yet met but whom he loved dearly. He was a loving and devoted son to his parents, Robert and Lisa Blair, and the protective older brother to siblings Tanner Bryce and Rebecca Sabine. He was the beloved grandson of Cliff and Linda McBeth of Oklahoma City; Don and Judy Longhway of Del City; William Baker of Santo, Texas; and Robert and Elfriede Blair of Augusta, Georgia. He is also survived by his Aunt Norma Jean Stroud; cousins Michael and Gage Stroud; biological father Steve Allen McBeth; Uncle Danny McBeth; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Robert Mason Blair; Grandmother Laverne Baker; and Grandparents Pete and Lavern Light. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at Portland Avenue Baptist Church, 1301 N. Portland Avenue at 1:00 pm, Monday, October 6, 2008. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. Josh was particularly fond of Habitat for Humanity.
