Obituary

Joseph Charles Drouot, age 90, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on November 10th, 2016. Joe, as he was known to friends and family, was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Joe was born on July 21st, 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Harold and Dallis Drouot. He grew up in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City. At the age of 9, Joe was baptized at Olivet Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and served the Lord faithfully until his passing. In 1941, Joe was honored in the Tulsa World for having made his own bow and arrows while competing with the Will Rogers High School Archery Team, where he had earned the highest scores. After graduating from Classen High School in 1942, Joe joined the Navy and was sent in the 3rd wave into Okinawa. Joe met the love of his life, Verna Little, in 1948 and the two were married on June 11th, 1950. The two shared 64 years together before her passing in 2014. Joe is survived by his daughter, Donna Monk of Oklahoma City; grandson, Dru Monk and his wife Courtney; granddaughter, Ginger Magill; and 5 great-grandchildren: Aunna Magill, Jazzlynn Magill, Brayden Brown, Elise Monk and Evangeline Monk. Visitation will be Monday, November 14th at the Mercer Adams Funeral Home in Bethany. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 15th at Portland Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association are encouraged.
