Obituary

Rev. Jon Winston Lowry, 85, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord on May 21st, 2018. Jon was born July 17th, 1932 to John P. and Amelia K. Lowry at home in Meeker, Oklahoma. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1950 and Oklahoma Baptist University in 1954 with a degree in English Literature and a minor in History. He worked bi-vocationally, pastoring numerous Baptist churches for 34 years and retired from OG&E as Manager of Customer Service after 33 years. Jon and his wife, Jacqulein, were married on August 21st, 1953 and enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Jon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, antique collecting, watching Saturday night fights, and late-night western movies. He served on the cast, Board of Directors, and as Chaplain for The Holy City of the Wichitas for many years. He is survived by his children: Jonna Rhoades of Oklahoma City, Jon Paul Lowry and wife Barbara of Oklahoma City, Jocelyn Patterson and husband Rex of Edmond; grandchildren: Megan Bartels and husband Bryan, Misha Andrade and husband John, Joanie Keyser, Jessica Davis, Jon Rand Lowry and wife Kendell, Lauren McCabe and husband Hayden, and Alex Patterson; great-grandchildren: Mara, Paige, and Norah Bartels, Kelby and Eli Andrade and Addison Davis. Jon was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqulein Lowry, siblings, Lois Simmons and George Lowry, and daughter, Jaimie Siegal. The Holy City of the Wichitas held great significance to Jon since it was the site of the longest running Easter Pageant in North America. In memory of his many years of service, a stained-glass window will be placed in the Chapel on the grounds of The Holy City.
