Jolene Schwind, 84, died May 1, 2019 in OKC. She was born July 14, 1934 in Tulsa, OK to Elisha H. and Elsie (Anderson) Wilcox. She graduated from El Reno HS in 1952 and achieved her masters at UCO in 1976. Jolene married Ray A. Schwind on July 16, 1961 in El Reno, OK and they enjoyed 30 wonderful years together. She worked as a reading teacher at Western Heights and Putnam City North until her retirement in 1992. She achieved a Bronze Life Masters in Bridge, a game she loved. She was a 13-year volunteer at the Cancer Center. Jolene was an avid fan of OU sports and loved the Thunder basketball team. She and her later-in-life companion, John Staggs, took many Oklahoma adventures together and shared lots of laughter and happy times. Jolene loved to travel around the world. She was a life member of Western Oaks Christian Church. Jolene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray A. Schwind; sister, Arita Brunson; and her longtime companion, John Staggs. She is survived by son, John Schwind; daughters, Mary Schwind and Marilyn Clark; sister, Mary Ellen Wilcox and numerous nieces and nephews. Jolenes family wishes to thank all the special people involved in her care. Viewing will be Monday, 9am-9pm with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams.
