Johnny Jerrel Short passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. He was born on September 29, 1933, in Bethany, Oklahoma. Preceded in death by his parents, James Herman and Virgie Lee Short, his brother, Jodie Short Sr. and his son, Christopher Short. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Short, of 60 years of marriage; his two daughters, Kimberly and her husband Raymond Ridlen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Melanie and her husband Kelley Gilligan of The Colony, Texas; his brother, Jimmy and his wife Janet Short of Bethany, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth and her husband Josh Prince of Wellston, Oklahoma, Jeffrey Osborn of Bethany, Oklahoma, Justin and his wife Ryan Botkin of Yukon, Oklahoma, Trey Ridlen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jerrod Botkin of McKinney, Texas, Justin and his wife Valerie Gilligan of The Colony, Texas, Josh Gilligan of Lewisville, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, McKinley and Kymree Prince of Wellston, Oklahoma, Charlie Botkin of Yukon, Oklahoma. He worked most of his career life as a salesman. He worked for Bill Story Fire and Safety and then went to work for John H. Cole selling electrical equipment to big oil producers. John H. Cole sold the business to Nelson Electric whom he continued to work for until he retired in August of 1985. He later went to Vo-tech to get his HVAC license and went to work for SNU College as a repairman for a few more years. He was an angler fisherman, wrapped his own rods and made his own spinners and worms, and also loved working in the yard. He was a member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. He helped deliver meals, was a door greeter at the church on Sundays and also helped serve communion. The family is eternally grateful for the compassionate care of Storey Oaks Memory Care where he spent the last two and a half years of his life.
