John Alan Sabolich, CPO
Born Aug 6, 1948, in Oklahoma City, OK, and died on July 23, 2017. Survived by children, Scott Alan Sabolich, CP, and wife Devin; Brian Alan Sabolich and wife Maike; and Laura Lee Sabolich and fianc Brandon. Also survived by his sister Carole Tiemann and brother-in-law Carl Tiemann, seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
John was born to Lorene and Lester Sabolich, CPO. He followed in his fathers footsteps by starting in the family prosthetics business at the age of 10. John later began blazing his own trail by graduating at the top of his prosthetic and orthotic post-graduate class from New York University.
By the 1980s, he was a true visionary in his field. And like one of his teenage heroes, he was also unafraid to boldly go where no man has gone before to the point that in 1993, he became the youngest man to be inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
Johns innate ability and lovably eccentric personality combined with uniquely radical ideas and his boundless passion helped modify the modern world of prosthetics and patient care. He founded the nation's largest and most advanced prosthetic center in the world, patented the Sabolich Socket, authored the book "Youre Not Alone", and founded the Limbs for Life Foundation, to name a few.
Johns boldness and dedication led to drastically changing the worlds expectations of what an amputee could accomplish in life which culminated into the Sabolich name becoming synonymous with excellence in prosthetic care around the world. Johns methods are now standard university curriculum and he is remembered by thousands of patients around the world as well as by the industry he helped revolutionize.
But John measured his own heart by a different standard By how well he performed in his role as husband and father. John would be the first to admit he was far from perfect. Like everyone, he had personal struggles, triumphs, and passions. But when it came to what was truly most important to him in life there was no higher calling for him, except striving to align his will with his Heavenly Fathers, than to do the best he could at loving his children and wife.
John could not have been any prouder of how well his son Scott has done following in hiss footsteps with Scott Sabolich Prosthetics. He loved little more (except perhaps racing cars) than staying up so many late nights with his close friend and confidant, his 2nd son Brian. And nothing could melt his heart so fast as his most prized treasure, his daughter Laura. To him, these were his greatest achievements. And while some struggles are simply too difficult to reconcile, for 36 years he had no more positive influence, love, and spiritual partner than in his wife, Lee.
So despite his imperfections, it is rare that a man successfully summits the three highest peaks in life: changing the world for good, his family as his most valuable creation, and a lifelong quest for improving his relationship with God.
You gave all you had to offer and more and for that We dearly love and miss you Dad.

A tribute to John
By fiance Charlene Castelluzzo
Nothing happens in Gods world by mistake, and meeting Prince Charming when we met, was no accident either. As a perfectly imperfect pair, God knew what we needed most. He taught me how to experience being loved again. I taught him how to receive love again. He showed me how to enjoy life. I showed him there is more to life.
Kindness, charity, affection, self honesty John had these in abundance, and even at times when it was difficult.
From corny jokes to talking through the sunset, he could make you feel like the only person on earth. But he was not perfect. And that is where God showed up the most. Because we both still had lessons to learn before Christ brought John home. But the race was won because nothing happens in Gods world by mistake. I will miss you my love.
