John Patrick Ruger, 57, went to be the Lord on May 22, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born in Redondo Beach, California on July 19, 1966, the 8th child born to Gerald and Catherine Ruger.

Following high school, John served his country in the US Navy during the era of Operation Desert Storm. After being honorably discharged from military service in 1990, John married Pilipina "Pina" Latorre. They were married for 34 years and lived in El Segundo and Lakewood, California. John worked for Chevron Refinery in El Segundo, California from 1990 until his retirement in 2020 as an Operator Assistant in Blending and Shipping.

John enjoyed golfing, family game night, word puzzles, cooking, and spending time with great nieces and nephews. He was a trusted sponsor and friend to many working through recovery. He also enjoyed hanging out with his Chevron friends.

John's daily sarcastic memes became the source of daily connection to his siblings and friends. He deeply loved his wife and his family. His generosity and genuine compassion touched the lives of all those around him.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Catherine Ruger. He is survived by his wife, Pina Ruger; 8 siblings; 16 nieces and nephews; and 6 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 24, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
