Obituary

John Edgar Pritchett died on Monday, March 21, 2011. Johns life epitomized his dedication to God, Country and Family. John was born on December 18, 1923 to Elmer and Ida Amelia (Street) Pritchett in Cleveland, OK. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1942. John, a WWII veteran, served in the US Marine Corp from 1942 to 1947. He was stationed in the Pacific China Arena and was a reservist thru 1950. He was proud to have been a Marine and often wore his Marine cap and jacket. John began his civil service career at Tinker Air Force Base in 1948. In 1952 he joined the CAA, which later became the Federal Aviation Administration, where he was an electronic technician and supervisor responsible for the repair of radar systems. During his tenure, John was President of the FAA Flying Club and President of the Mutual Aid Pledge Service. He retired from the FAA after over 35 years of civil service and spent 32 years enjoying retirement, spending time with his children, going to coffee club meetings, and enjoying a wonderful life. John was always smiling and enjoyed helping family and friends. He always had a kind word to say and was a supportive helpful father and friend. John was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Ida, two older brothers Lawrence Pritchett and Bill Pritchett, stepson Billy Pritchett, and first wife Betty Joe (Burns) Pritchett. He is survived by his third wife Naomi (Brown) Pritchett of Bethany, second wife Jean Gregory of Oklahoma City, and brother Bob Pritchett and his wife Wilma of Waco, TX. John was a loving and caring father to his four children Mike Pritchett and his wife Linda, Pete Pritchett and his wife Becky, Donnie Pritchett and his wife Lynda, and Tammy (Pritchett) Wacker and husband Darrin; and three step-children Kenneth Testerman and his wife Lavila, Donald Testerman and his wife Donna Abrams, and Nancy (Testerman) Falls. John had 10 grandchildren: John Pritchett, Jeff Pritchett, Nathan Pritchett, Matthew A. Pritchett, Amy (Pritchett) McLemore, Donald Pritchett, Matthew R. Pritchett, Ryan Pritchett, Chase Pritchett and Brittany Pritchett; seven great-grandchildren: Zachary Pritchett, Jack Pritchett, Alex Pritchett, Bethany McLemore, Baily Pritchett, Sam Pritchett, and Cal Pritchett. John also had 8 step grandchildren: Pamela (Testerman) Lambert, Michael Smith, Rachael (Testerman) Carey, Nicole (Testerman) Jenkins, Carrie Falls, Kelli Falls, Dustin Testerman, and Ashley Testerman; and 14 step great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Friday, March 25, 3:00pm at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond, OK.
