John William Nelson, Jr. passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at the age of 90. He was born April 5, 1926, in Topeka, Kansas, to John and Gertrude Elsena (Shoaf) Nelson. John proudly served during WWII in the U.S. Navy and was once stationed on the ship Bunker Hill. While in the Navy, he married Ella Blen Whitfield and they had three children. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; sister, Marie Boyd; daughter, Sandra Blen McAbee and granddaughter, Charity McAbee.
John married Maria Louisa Reyes Dominguez on March 15, 1985, and lived happily in Yukon, OK. He is survived by his wife, Louisa; daughter, Linda Ann Jacob; son, John William Nelson, III; son-in-law, David Jacob; daughter-in-law, Michele Nelson; grandchildren, David Jacob, Jr., Kelley Ledford, Kristin Jacob, John Ryan Jacob, John (Jack) Nelson IV, and Georgia Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Payton, Braydon and Bryce Jacob; William, John Barron and Brielle Ledford; and Thomas Jacob. He is also survived by his brother, Vernon Nelson of Kansas and sister, Mary Ellen Tonsing of Colorado.
John was a pilot for Lippert Bros. Construction Company and owned Nelson Construction Company. He loved to share stories of his many flying trips with Mr. Lippert. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. We will miss you Dad.
