Obituary

John Henry McCrotty, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 18, 2015. He was born November 15, 1926 in Little Rock, AR to James Albert McCrotty and Bessie Lela (Harrison) McCrotty. He was raised in Little Rock and attended Little Rock Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army from March 2, 1945 to December 1, 1946. After his service in the Army, he returned home to Little Rock as a proud WWII Veteran. He married Olive Mae House on December 25, 1946. They were married until her passing on September 1, 1989. In July, 1947, he signed up to be an Apprentice Plasterer. He worked as a Plasterer, Plastering Foreman, and Plastering Superintendent. He worked in numerous cities in Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa and Oklahoma. He moved to Oklahoma City on June 1, 1958 to work on the original six-story Baptist Hospital Building. He retired from Maidt Plastering Co. in 1980. In August, 1981, he began working at Lake Hefner Golf Course as an Assistant Golf Professional. He held various other positions there as well. By working at the golf course, he was able to enjoy the passion which he had had since boyhood, the game of golf. He was an accomplished golfer with 15 hole-in-ones. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Carroll Woodrow McCrotty and William Dennis McCrotty; his sisters, Mary Frances (McCrotty) Berry and Dorothy Louise (McCrotty) Narrell; and his best friend, Ethel Mae "Hooley" Ferguson. She passed on March 20, 2014. He is survived by his two daughters, Michelle "Mickey" McCrotty and Marilyn (McCrotty) Davis; his son-in-law, Victor Davis; his granddaughter, Shelly Taft and her husband Gary; his two great grandsons, Jared Taft and Jonah Taft; his two nieces, Tina Cain and Debbie Blackburn; his four nephews, Richard Narrell, Dennis McCrotty, Lloyd Neal, and Bryan Neal; and many great friends. Viewing will be Sunday, 11am-9pm, and Monday, 8am-9pm at Mercer-Adams, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK. Services to celebrate his life will be Tuesday, February 24, at 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment following in Resurrection Cemetery.
