Obituary

John Frederick Kilman, 100, passed away on July 23, 2024 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on October 11, 1923 to Marvin D. Kilman and Mary A. (Kozel) Kilman in Shawnee, OK. He married Mary Katherine (Katy) Peterman on November 21, 1942 in Oklahoma City.

John owned and operated Oklahoma Type Service and retired in 1986. He worked in the printing industry as a typesetter his entire life. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.

John was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys on TV. He was a season ticket holder for OU football for many years and enjoyed taking his family to Dallas for the big OU-Texas game. He loved spending the holidays with family and was a devoted parent and grandparent. John graduated from Central High School with an emphasis in the printing industry.

He was a deacon at Crestwood Baptist Church and Portland Avenue Baptist Church. He spent most of his adult life as a teacher working in the Children's Ministry. He was a kind, loving person who made friends wherever he went.

John was preceded in death by his parents; beloved spouse of 77 years, Katy; his brother, Marvin Kilman; sister, Betty Northcutt, and grandson, James Robert Kilman.

He is survived by his sons, Ron Kilman and wife Joyce, and Bob Kilman and wife Mary; grandchildren, Deborah, Ryan and Brad; and great grand-children, Grace and Jake Fulton, Benton, Johnna, Jade, Andrew and Anthony and Holden Kilman.

Celebration of Life Services will be held Friday, July 26, at 1:00 pm at Portland Avenue Baptist Church with interment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
