Obituary

John E. Johnson went to be with his Lord on January 20, 2013. He joined his loving wife, Carole, only 3 weeks after her death in December. John Edwin Johnson was born in his childhood home in Colfax, Wisconsin on May 2, 1931. He grew up and raised his family there. He married Mary Jean Burton on April 16, 1949 in Minneapolis and they had 4 children. Jean went home to be with the Lord in 1967. He then married Carole Edmonds in 1968 and they combined their 2 families, adopting each other's children to become one big family of 13. In 1971, he sold the family farm and moved the entire family to Bethany, OK where he bought his own business. His career was spent in the auto mechanic field working not only for himself but for an area dealership and most recently had various positions with Rent-A-Crane. He was very involved in Piedmont Church of the Nazarene where they were charter members. Over the years he led music and sang faithfully in many of the services. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, 1 sister, Frances Nelson, 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is survived by 3 sisters, Audrey Burton, Norma Burton and Yvonne Schilling; 11 children: Kate Smith (Terry), David Johnson, Carolyn Crites (Steve), Judy Davis (Greg), John M. Johnson (Denise), Margie Shreffler (Joe), Debbie Boyer (Tim), George Johnson (Ila), John E. Johnson Jr. (Barbara), Teri Miranda (Mark), and Cheryl Roberts (Mike). There are 32 surviving grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, January 25 at Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene. Memorial contributions can be made to the Jack and Carole Johnson Memorial Fund at F&M Bank in Piedmont, OK.
