John Robert Cox, 77, died June 4, 2014. He was born September 19, 1936, in Hugo, OK to John and Cora (Weddington) Cox. John worked as an engineer at KWTV and, later, 40 years as a bank supply and advertising salesman. He enjoyed his work and golfing. An active member and deacon at Putnam City Baptist Church, he will be remembered most for his gentle spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Elba Jean Latham. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; son, Brian; daughters, Dana Baker and husband Chris, Laurie Shadwick and husband Shane; sisters, Mary Evelyn Miller and husband George, LeeAnn Duyck and husband Afton; 6 grandchildren, Jay, Brett, Bailey, Chelsea, Garett and Olivia; 1 great-granddaughter, Maci; and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Friday, noon-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Saturday, June 7, 10:30am at Putnam City Baptist Church with interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
