Joe Wade Wood, 85, passed away March 11, 2015 in OKC. He was born June 4, 1929 in Eldorado, OK to Ados and Vera L. (Wilson) Wood. He attended Eldorado High School where he met LaVerta A. Spradlin who would become his wife of over 64 years. Joe had a talent for transforming ideas into working devices, which he developed during the depression and honed into a successful career in the telecommunications field where he excelled for over 50 years. His family took pride in his many accolades and accomplishments. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, LaVerta and a daughter, Connie Jo. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy and husband Ray Wiseman, Lisa Johnson, Terri and husband Joe C. Wood; grandchildren, Jackie Garman, Court Burnett, Joanna Schindler, Dusty and Akemi Rhoades, Cressy Anquoe, Joe Jr. and Shena Wood; his brothers and best friends, Warren and Weldon Wood; numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends. Joe's family carries many fond memories of his love and support and his service to his faith and love of God. Viewing will be Friday, March 13, noon-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015, 11:00am at Mayfair Baptist Church, 2715 NW 50th with interment to follow in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
