Joe was born September 14, 1930 in Lebanon, Missouri to Charlie and Sarah (Allen) Nutter. He was one of 8 siblings. He joined the Army in 1948 and served for 28 years. His service included wartime tours of duty in both Korea and Vietnam. He also served in Germany and various duty stations in the United States, retiring in 1975 as a Command Sergeant Major. He then worked for Hawker Beech for 17 years as Logistics Specialist. He was married to Katherine and had three children: David, Charlie (who predeceased his father), and Gary. He married Barbara Nutter in 2003 and they lived in Anadarko and Oklahoma City. Shortly after marrying Barbara, Joe was baptized and became a member of Anadarko Church of the Nazarene where he faithfully served. He loved to watch football, was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, and liked to listen to country classic music. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons, David and wife Marjorie, Gary and wife Paula; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 3, 2:00pm at Anadarko Church of the Nazarene, 601 W. Virginia Avenue, Anadarko, OK. Graveside services will be Friday, December 4, 11:00am in Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK.
