Joe David McCoy, 77, passed away August 30, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 11, 1948, in Paris, TX to Carl and Lucretia McCoy, but lived most of his earlier years in Durant, OK alongside his family. Throughout his life he dedicated himself to his education, his family, and his country. He proudly served for six years as a member of the Army National Guard and graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, becoming a Certified Public Accountant.

Joe enjoyed a successful four-decade career starting in the private sector and ending with the State of Oklahoma. He was the Director of Internal Audit for the Employees Group Insurance Board for over 25 years and encountered multiple business partners and friends over the years until his retirement in November of 2021.

Outside of work, Joe enjoyed gardening, playing his trumpet, and traveling, especially taking cruises. During his retirement he traveled all over, visiting Alaska, Hawaii, and the Cayman Islands and took countless other trips, enjoying his time and exploring what the world had to offer. He was intelligent, loyal, and trustworthy. One of Joe's main attributes was how impeccably dressed he always was. He meticulously styled his starched, monogrammed shirts and perfectly coordinated suits, always making sure his cuff links matched. Joe had a fantastic sense of humor and was never without a quick comeback, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.

Joe is survived by his wife, Frances Kaye McCoy; and her children, Cassie and her son Caden, Donna and her daughter Caroline, and Chad.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Owens and the staff at Integris Hospice House for their care and comfort.

Joe will live in our hearts forever. He will be missed by his family and his friends.

Services will be for immediate family only.
