JoAnn Day, 82, went home to be with the Lord, July 26, 2016. She was born February 19, 1934 in Hominy, OK to Dewey Chambers and Jewell Balintine. She was a Dance Instructor in the 60s for Authur Murray Studios in Taft, CA. She owned and managed several Restaurants throughout her life; she was a chef and an amazing waitress. She could line up more plates on both arms than you could believe, long before they had trays. She owned the Chateau Restaurant on 39th in OKC where, every Thanksgiving, she put out a bountiful buffet free to the public. She worked at her mothers Caf, called the 12th Street Caf, in Baxter Springs, KS from 1948-52 where she met a handsome soldier, Glen Day. They were married on August 22, 1951 where they did go forth and multiply, the rest is history. Married 63 years, having 8 children together until the Lord called Glen home on June 22, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Glen E. Jr. (GE); and sister, Viva Hammonds. She is survived by her brother, Dewey Chambers (DJ); daughters, Connie Burgett and husband Richard, Julie Gregory and husband Christian; sons, Sam Day, Mark Day, Matt Day and wife Gina, Jamie Day, Cleo Day and wife Kristie; a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. The services will be Monday, August 1, 2:00pm, at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany OK with interment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
