Obituary

Jimmy Ray Pattillo passed from this life on January 18, 2018. He was born the third child of John Raymond and Verna Cauthorn Pattillo on March 6, 1941 in Kilgore, Texas at the height of the East Texas oil boom. His father worked in the oil fields and the family moved to Luling, Texas when Jim was in grade school. He completed high school in Luling and went on to South West Texas University where he graduated with a BA degree. He then enlisted and served in the Air Force for 4 years and after going to language school at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana was stationed in Hof am Saale, Germany as a Voice Intercept Processing Specialist. When he returned to civilian life he moved to Oklahoma City where he met and married his beloved wife, Peggy McKay on February 3, 1973. Jim worked as a clerk for the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad and for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a devoted Rail fan. His documentation of trains in and around Oklahoma City during the 1960s and 1970s is well known. He, also, worked for Putnam City School System in their Projects Department for over 20 years. He retired in 2005 due to health problems. Jim will always be remembered for his wonderful humor and ability to tell a joke and lift someones day. Jims wife wrote a food column for several newspapers and he stood out prominently as Ole Eatus Anythingus. He enjoyed this notoriety. After suffering a heart attack at 33 years of age, life took on more importance and Jim lived each day as if it were a gift. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Luling, Texas. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Verna Pattillo; and one sister, Martha Mayton. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the home; one brother, Gerald L. Pattillo of Oklahoma City; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Parkinson Foundation. Memorial Service Saturday, March 10, 2018 10:00 AM Mercer-Adams Chapel 3925 N. Asbury Bethany, OK 73008
