Jimmy Dean Andrews, son of James Wesley and Elma Margaret Andrews, was born August 14, 1941 in Springfield, Missouri. He attended Cushing High School in Cushing, OK where he was known as "Slick." He was the kicker and lineman for his high school football team and kicked the winning field goal at the 1958 State Championship game against Ada, where he earned the nickname "Golden Toe." He attended NEO in Miami, OK and was president of the Engineers Club, Member of Phi Theta Kappa, Lab assistant for the physics department, member of the "O" Club, and was an all-conference lineman. Jim graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He worked at the China Lake Naval Weapons Center in California for 18 years and later transferred to Tinker Air Force Base where he retired in 1999. His favorite pastime was sports, politics and to travel.He had an exceptional witty ability to tell stories that captivated his listeners. During his retired years he bravely and enthusiastically took on new ventures like driving a Corvette, becoming a big rig truck driver, private investigator, and art entrepreneur. He was the oldest recipient in Oklahoma to receive a lung transplant, which had him fighting for his life during the last twelve months. Jim departed this life February 6, 2017 fully ready to meet his Lord with the hopes that Fox News was available in heaven. He was inspired that he would see his son John Kelly, who preceded him in death September 17, 2006.Jims life will be forever cherished by his three children, Susan Beth Henry and husband Kevin, Paul Christian Andrews and wife Terri, and David Nathaniel Andrews and wife Brandi, all from Oklahoma City with his five grandchildren Zachary, Asher, Adelynn, Monica, and Kayla. He is survived by his wife Gail B. Andrews who loved him dearly. Viewing will be Wednesday, 2-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, Bethany, OK. Services will be Thursday, February 9, 2:30pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
