Obituary

Jimmie Richard Myers, 76, Oklahoma City, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 with family by his side. He was born April 22, 1935 in Tulsa to the late Charlie F. Myers and Ethel Lee (Mercer) Myers. Jim served his country in the National Guard and received a Master's Degree in Business Administration. He went on to work at Sinclair, then retired from Kerr-McGee as a financial analyst. Jim married Carol Ann Mitchell, his high school sweetheart, and together they raised four children. He was active in his church, First Baptist Church of Bethany, serving in many capacities from deacon to youth sponsor, bus driver and lawn mower, as well as many other duties. If there was a job that needed to be done, you could count on him. He loved music, traveling, and being with his family. He was a quiet man of strength and integrity, respected and loved, willing to help in every way he could. Jim is survived by his four children, Gary Myers and his wife Jonica of Oklahoma City, Rick Myers and his wife Tammie of Oklahoma City, Brian Myers and his wife Caroll of New Zealand, and Lisa Upchurch and her husband Ralph of Blanchard. He is also survived by his sister Doris Martin and her husband Henry of Pawnee, as well as his brothers Charles Myers and his wife Minnie of White Oak, Texas, and Bob Myers and his wife Sue of Edmond. He is also survived by his grandchildren, who were the sunshine of his life. Their names are Bret Smith of Oklahoma City, Wyatt Upchurch of Blanchard, and Baylee Upchurch of Blanchard. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Lee Myers, and his wife Carol Ann Myers. Jim's life will be remembered and celebrated in a service at the First Baptist Church of Bethany, 3800 N. Mueller, officiated by Rev. Charles Womack, on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 10:00 am with interment in Masham Cemetery in Pawnee at 3:00 pm.
