Jimmie Nell Smith was born to Grace Smith in LeFlore County, OK, where she grew up with her cousin, Jack Smith, who was more like a brother to her. She graduated from LeFlore H.S. in 1950. Jimmie married Lowell Eden on February 24, 1953 in Bethany, OK. A wonderful daughter, LuAnn Eden, was born of that union on August 4, 1958. LuAnn went on to marry Jesse Joel Bensinger in May, 1983, and then passed from this life in March, 1992. Jimmie Nell was a lifetime resident of Oklahoma. Retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1987, she was a member of the Telephone Pioneer Club and also Northwest Baptist Church. Jimmie volunteered for Baptist Medical Center and Legal Aid of Western Oklahoma for many years until her eyesight began to fail. She was a resident of Baptist Village Retirement Center, Forest Glade Retirement Center and finally, Southern Plaza Community at the time of her death. She is survived by her son-in-law, Jesse Joel Bensinger and his wife, Carla Jones Bensinger. Although blinded by glaucoma, Jimmie Nell was a very kind, resourceful and determined woman. She will be sorely missed by her adopted family, Wanda and Randy Hull, LeFlore H.S. REUNION friends and many others whose lives she had touched. Jimmie Nell will be laid to rest at Bethany Cemetery next to her daughter on Saturday, July 7, 2018, with a graveside service at 10:00am.
