Jim, loving husband, father, and grandfather was born to Jess and Katherine (Zimmerman) Coombes in Sand Springs, OK. After graduating from Sand Springs High School in 1957, he obtained a BSEE degree from the University of Denver and an MBA degree from Oklahoma City University. Jim retired from Seagate after 38 years, working as an engineer and manager. Jims hobbies included singing in the choir at FBC Bethany, playing in a bluegrass band, and enjoying the great outdoors. Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce (Jenkins) Coombes; son, James "Jimmy" Coombes and wife Vickie of Yukon, OK; daughter, Julie Allison and husband Ian of New Braunfels, TX; five grandchildren, Shelbie and Colten Coombes and Peyton, Mia and Luke Allison; and brothers, Bob and Ted Coombes. He will be greatly missed by the many who loved and knew him. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 31st from 12-9pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Bethany, 3800 N. Mueller Ave, Bethany, OK on Wednesday August 1, 2018 at 2pm with interment in Fairland Cemetery, Fairland, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.
