Jill passed from this life to her eternal home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday morning. Jill's last days were spent in a valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer. Jill was a student and lover of Science. She taught science at the secondary level earlier in her life. She graduated from Putnam City West High School, attended the University of Central Oklahoma and obtained her college degree from Southern Nazarene University. Jill never met one of God's critters she did not love until the time came to feed the science lab snake at S.N.U. She got the food early one day when it fell her turn to feed the snake. She carried the rat in her pocket all day until time to feed the snake in the evening. By this time, she and the rat had bonded. Reluctantly, she fed the rat to the snake. She cried hours thereafter. We have suspected maybe her love of God's creature "the snake" was somewhat diminished by this event. She is survived by her son, Kristian Vail; her parents, Jack & Roberta Petty; brother, Todd & wife Melissa; niece, Madelyn; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Special thanks from Jill's family to the compassionate caregivers at Frontier Hospice. Also, the family's gratitude to "the girls" for their tender, loving care of Jill. Day and night they cared for her during her last days on this earth. A memorial service to celebrate Jill's life will be held at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, 6789 NW 39th Expwy, Bethany, OK, at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 4th.
