Jewell Lorraine Spears, 81, of Tulsa, Oklahoma (formerly of Yukon, Oklahoma) passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 in Tulsa. She was born July 17, 1932 in Plano, Iowa to the late George A. and Pearl Christine Hartman Thompson. Jewell retired with AT&T after 23 years of dedicated service. She was a member of The Pioneers, a volunteer network of AT&T & Lucent Technologies. She was a former mentor to students for Yukon Public Schools, a participant in various charitable organizations, a former member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Yukon, Oklahoma, and very involved with her family, especially her wonderful grand and great-grandchildren. Jewell was also very well known as a caregiver and a great and loyal friend to many. She will be dearly missed. Jewell is survived by her husband, Chester Mayo Spears of Norman, Oklahoma; four children, Vernon Pruitt and his wife Renee of Norman, Oklahoma, Connie Kach and her husband Greg of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ann Featherstone of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Steven Spears and his wife Beth of Norman, Oklahoma; one brother, Real Thompson of Sacramento, California; one sister, Ann Larson and her husband John of Galva, Illinois; 12 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jewell was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Pruitt and one granddaughter, Christa Featherstone. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Christ's Church of Yukon with Ron Rasmussen, Pastor, officiating. The family has requested memorials be made to Clarehouse, 7617 S. Mingo Road, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74133 or to the Alzheimer's Association.
