Obituary

Jewell Faye (Cary) Morse, a longtime Oklahoma City resident, passed away peacefully in Bangor, Maine on August 30, 2020 just two weeks shy of her 98th birthday. She was born near Thomas, New Mexico on September 14, 1922 to Miles and Clara (McClanahan) Cary. Her parents brought her to Hollis, Oklahoma in a covered wagon as a small child. She was raised on a farm with four brothers and two sisters weathering the hardships of the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. She worked as a bookkeeper after graduating from business school in Oklahoma City. Jewell married Robert "Bob" Morse December 21, 1946. They were married 67 years until his death in 2014. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ and most recently affiliated with the Cherokee Hills congregation where she enjoyed many close friendships. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, J.L. (infant), Roy (Louise), Cecil (Velma), Clyde (Ruth), Harlan (Wanda Beth) and Marvelle (Howard) Wright. She is survived by one sister, Lucille (Grant) Bible; son, Roger (Nadine) Morse; granddaughters, Mindee Morse and Julie (Vince) Corrao; grandsons, Jason (Lori) Kark and Aaron (Christine) Kark; and many loving nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 9am-9pm on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury Avenue, Bethany, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, September 4, 2020 at 10:00am in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor Granville Clapp. The family wishes to express their gratitude to special friends Fran Cates, Bunny Chambers, Beef Chambers, and to the compassionate, caring staff at Westgate Center for Rehabilitation & Alzheimers Care in Bangor, Maine.
