Jesse Richard, "J.R." Jones, 88, was called to his eternal resting place on January 19, 2019. He passed away due to complications of MDS, in his home surrounded by family.He entered this world on September 15, 1930 in Paris, KY, born to Gay and Iva Jones. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Maurine Cobb-Jones. Together they had 4 wonderful children, son Rick Jones, daughter Karen Nooe Dedmon, daughter Pam Jones Munday, and a son Robert Nooe.JR served in the Navy from 1948-1952. It was during this time he acquired one of his greatest memories meeting the Pope and shaking his hand. He then went on to attend college at the University of Kentucky. He graduated with a bachelors of science in commerce. He then went on to work for IBM for 33 years. He proudly served as Sunday School treasurer for 40 years at Grace Church of The Nazarene in Austin, Texas. His greatest accomplishment in life was his family, and their families they went on to create and loving and providing for them well. He was a grand storyteller and enjoyed sharing his accounts of traveling with Maurine, helping Judy Satcher with Follow Your Dreams Tours, which became the joy of his retirement.He was preceded in death by his first wife Zelma Perkins Jones; and his son Rick Jones.He was survived by sister Gaylena Corneilson of North Carolina, and brother Bill Jones of Kentucky.Daughter Karen Nooe Dedmon, and Husband Scott. Granddaughters Abbie Dedmon, Hannah Dedmon Barnes and husband Ryan Barnes, great-grandson Ellis Barnes.Daughter Pam Jones Munday, and husband Ken Munday. Granddaughters Maegen Munday, Jesi Munday, Jamie Munday Raymond and husband Andy Raymond. great-grandchildren Cash and Emmie Raymond.Son Bob Nooe, and wife LuAnne Nooe. Grandson Austin Nooe. Granddaughter Katie Nooe Keeney, husband Rob Keeney, great -granddaughter Izzie Keeney.Daughter in law Linda Allgood Jones. grandson Aaron Jones, wife Jeanette Jones, and great-grandson Isaac Jones. Grandson Ryan jones and wife Tiffany Jones. Grandson Brendon Jones.A private memorial service will be held this week.
