Jerry Preston Templin was born November 13, 1939 in Nocona, Texas to Reuben Terrah Templin & Verna Jean Brookmole.
Jerrys dad worked for Halliburton, so they moved a lot. From Nocona, Texas the family moved to Odessa, Texas then onto Duncan, Oklahoma. While in Duncan he started grade school. They moved to south Oklahoma City to Capitol Hill area. He attended Will Rogers Grade School near the airport. Then moved again to the northwest Oklahoma City area. He completed school as a senior at Putnam City High School in 1958.
Jerry met Monta Rose Saunders in January 1958, on a blind date. Jerry and Monta Rose were married February 13, 1959. Love is a wonderful thing, married for 62 years.
Jerry was a determined, hardworking man. He worked many jobs to support his wife and growing family. From a heat and air apprentice to a heavy equipment operator, to a butcher shop employee, to starting his own welding business in 1968. Jerry changed careers in 1972 by joining Dayton Tire Company. Enjoying many new benefits in a robust large manufacturing tire company. Jerry worked dutifully for 25 years, retiring in 1997 at the age of 55.
Jerry raised his sons and daughter to be hard working, respectful and productive in society. He and Monta Rose were always supportive of Neal, Darlene, and Dale's outside school activities. Jerry loved his family and has been the patriarch of the Templin Legacy. He probably did not know his impact to the family name. He could fix anything, and his hobbies included NASCAR, classic cars, and trucks. He loved supporting the kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews in their activities.
