Jerry J. Roth, age 80, was born in Chester, Illinois to Walter "Bud" and Virginia Roth onOctober 29, 1937. He left this world on Monday, October 22, 2018, while at home with hisfamily at his side.Jerry was a man of many names. He was born Gerald Joseph Roth. Growing up in hishometown, he was known as "Butch". At the age of 18, he went into the Service and enlisted inthe Air Force, where he was known to his Air Force buddies as "Slick Willie". After the AirForce, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to attend Spartan School of Aeronautics. He soon got intothe sport of skydiving and earned the name "Frog Roth". He then moved to Oklahoma City towork for Aero Commander, where he acquired the name "Jake", which stuck with himthroughout his aviation career of 40+ years. In Oklahoma City, he met the love of his life, CathyChism. They were married on April 10, 1964 and had just celebrated their 54th weddinganniversary this year. On March 12, 1965, he became "Dad" to Vandi Lynn Roth and three yearslater on July 30, 1968, to Kevin Scott Roth. One of Jerrys favorite past times was betting onfootball with his buddies, where he went by "Slim Pickens". If you ever called the Rothresidence, you might have thought you called Duffys Tavern, which was one of his favoriteways to answer the phone, along with Slim and JR. In 1999, he became a father-in-law when hisdaughter Vandi married Kyle Booth and then on September 18, 2000, his first grandchild, Kyliewas born, followed four years later in 2004 by Kolby and Jillian, to where he got his favoritename of all,"Papa". His grandchildren were the absolute light of his life.Jerry is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughter, Vandi Booth and husband Kyle; son,Kevin Roth; grandchildren,Kylie and Kolby Booth and Jillian Roth, all of Oklahoma City;brother, Ed Roth and wife Cheryl; nephew, Grayson, of Jacksonville, Florida; nephew, BrianRoth, of St. Louis, Missouri; and many extended family members, including his favorite nephew,Tracy Chism. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Roger "Fritz" Roth andRichard "Dick" Roth.Jerry had a very unique and funny sense of humor and was loved by all. Hisfavorite things in the world were his family, his Cardinals, having a beer and chicken atEischens, airplanes, and ice cream. Jerry impacted everyone he met and left a lasting impression.He will be greatly missed.
