Jerome Marek passed on to his heavenly home on March 11, 2011. He was born on April 4, 1918 in San Antonio, Texas to Joseph J. Marek and Emily Stanislaw Marek. He was the youngest of 12 children. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His life career began in Corpus Christi when he went to work for the Navy at age 18. He served in the AACS/USAF as a radio mechanic from 1941 to 1945. He worked for the State of Texas in Austin. He later worked for Scott AFB in Belleville, Illinois. During this time, He earned his Bachelors degree from Washington University, taking classes at night. He married Betty Louise Guebert in 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri; they were married for over 50 years when she passed away in 2003. He was also preceded in death by daughter Karen Marek. He is survived by his children, Barbara Goltry, Paul Marek and Timothy Marek; one grandchild, Julie Goltry Ah-Lo; and one brother, George Marek. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Gethsemane Lutheran Church. He always had a kind word for others. He could always be counted on to come to the rescue of his children in various situations. He had a very strong work ethic to provide well for his family. He worked as an electronics instructor at Oklahoma City FAA from 1958 until his retirement in 1979. The family would like to express thanks to the staff of Assisted Living at Concordia Life Care Community for their attentive care. Visitation will be Monday, March 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Macular Degeneration Research at AHAF.
