Obituary

Jerl Cecil Joslin, born on May 22, 1956 in Oklahoma City to Johnny and June Todd Joslin, graduated from this life on September 4, 2019 in Oklahoma City. Jerl grew up in Clayton, Oklahoma where he was quite involved in FFA, serving as chapter president for two years. After graduating from Clayton High School, he attended Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma City, receiving his bachelors degree in ministry. It was there that he met Dani Stevens, his wife of 44 years. He later received his masters degree in church growth from Pacific Christian College in Fullerton, California. Jerl was the youth minister at Watonga Christian Church in Watonga, Oklahoma, and Parkview Christian Church in Chickasha. Jerl and Dani traveled full time for a couple of years, singing and preaching for revivals, concerts, and rallies. Jerl served as the senior minister at First Christian Church in Boynton, Oklahoma, New Testament Christian Church in Duncan, Oklahoma, Parkview Christian Church in Chickasha, and lastly, served 24 years as senior minister of Forest Hill Christian Church in Oklahoma City. In 2014 Jerl and Dani began Refresh Ministry, a ministry of refreshing and encouraging pastors. They opened their home to pastors and their families as a get-away and a place to be refreshed. They logged countless hours and miles traveling to churches to show support to pastors and check in on them. They offered not only encouragement but went alongside the pastors in their celebrations and in their trying times. Jerl served on the Board of Directors of Cookson Hills Christian Ministries for 25 years, and on the Board of Directors of Manhattan Christian College for four years, where he was Chairman of the Board for two years. He also served numerous years on the Boards of the Southwest Oklahoma Evangelistic Association and the Oklahoma Christian Church Planters. Jerl has written numerous songs and most recently has authored and self-published six inspirational books with the seventh one nearing completion. Jerl genuinely loved his family and was a great husband, father, and papa. If you ever met Jerl, you probably felt like family after being with him. He knew and understood what being a true minister and friend was really all about and had an incredible gift of connecting with and caring for people. Jerl was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and June Joslin. He is survived by his wife, Dani, of the home; his daughter, Joy and husband Joel Dyer of Yukon; son, Jerad and wife Kassie Joslin of Miami, Oklahoma; son, Justin and wife Sutton Joslin of San Diego, California; four grandchildren, Jeren and Jami Joslin of Miami, Oklahoma and Jenson and Jace Dyer of Yukon, Oklahoma. He is also survived by three sisters, Janice and husband Jim Conley of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Jo and husband Dale Hall of Conifer, Colorado, and Julie and husband Jerry Wickersham of Newcastle, Oklahoma; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
