Jeffery "Jeff" Neil
Young
Nov 16, 1957 — Mar 20, 2026
A cherished brother and a loving, involved uncle, Jeffery "Jeff" Neil Young of Oklahoma City, unexpectedly passed away March 20, 2026.
He was a longtime employee at Johnson Controls Fire Protection in Oklahoma City, where he worked as a logistics coordinator.
Jeff was born on November 16, 1957, the second son and fourth of five children born to Robert and Sue (Davis) Young. He grew up in Bethany, Oklahoma, attended Putnam City Schools, and was a member of the Putnam City High School Class of 1976.
His childhood home is a short bike ride from one of the busiest small airports in the US and his Dad worked in the aviation business. Both influenced Jeff's lifelong interest in aviation.
He was involved in the Experimental Aircraft Association, and enjoyed attending air shows, like the EAA Air Venture in Osh Kosh, Wisconsin, with his brother, Phil. His creative hobby was building model aircrafts. Jeff also enjoyed military history, visiting museums, beaches, and casinos.
Jeff was an active member of Del City Jaycees for many years and had served as president. He also enjoyed gathering each month with his siblings for "sibling dinner."
He loved the cats, Killer, Elsie, Joey, and Jenny, who shared his home during his life, and provided companionship.
Jeff is survived by his family, including his siblings, Phillip and Reeca Young, Denise Young, and Kim Boughten and brother-in-law, Dudley Colbert; nieces and nephews, Carrie and Chad Sommer, Kayce and Kris Davis and Lizette Colbert, Natalie Williams, Rachel and David Pillar, Seth and Rustee Young, Brian and Amber Spaeth, Neil and Courtney Spaeth, Brittany and Justin Templeman and Jake Boughten and fiancé Jessica Howard; plus Jeff's great-nieces and great-nephews and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest sister, Sheryle Colbert; brother-in-law, Gary Boughten; and nephews, Chip Colbert and Shane Williams.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, March 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Mercer Adams Funeral Service Chapel in Bethany, OK. A private burial will be held at a later time. The family suggests making donations in Jeff's name to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
