Jeanie
Branscum
Feb 28, 1969 — Sep 27, 2025
Billie Jean "Jeanie" (Helton) Branscum, age 56, of Newalla, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025 after a courageous 15-year battle with an autoimmune disease. Jeanie was a devoted wife, momma bear, Mamaw, sister and friend – and a passionate nurse whose compassion and dedication touched countless lives.
A longtime resident of Bethany, Oklahoma, Jeanie graduated from Bethany High School in 1987. She went on to attend Southern Nazarene University, where she played basketball while pursuing a degree in Interior Design. Her journey then led her to Oklahoma State University where she followed her true calling to become a nurse – a role she embraced with her heart, skill and unwavering devotion.
Jeanie's calling to nursing was more than a profession; it reflected her soul. She cared deeply for her patients, offering not just medical support, but genuine kindness, empathy and hope. Her gentle touch and reassuring presence brought comfort to those in their most vulnerable moments.
Jeanie found joy in gardening and raising chickens, tending both with care and delight. Her home was a haven of warmth, filled with love, life and the simple pleasures she cherished most.
Jeanie is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Mike Branscum; her children, Nick and Brandi Branscum, Meagan and Tyler Meier, and Jarrett and Haven Branscum; and her cherished grandchildren, Harlyn Branscum, Brooks Branscum, and Graham Osborne. She is also survived by her brother, Roger Helton; sister, Lesa Wilkerson; brother and sister-in-law, Stan and Lori Branscum; niece, Hannah Wilkerson; nephews, Levi Wilkerson, Chris Branscum, Matt Branscum, Josh McDonald and Jake McDonald; great-nieces, Bella Branscum and Blakelyn Branscum; and her father-in-law, Hugh Branscum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Norma Helton; mother-in-law, Marge Branscum; and niece, Janae Branscum.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 18 at Metroplex Fellowship Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing." (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Jeanie's memory by taking your "special someone" out. It doesn't have to be fancy – Freddy's and Long John Silver's were two of her favorites. Raise a fountain Dr. Pepper to her, and cherish that moment together, because you never know when the last time will be the last time.
