Obituary

Jay Paul Hathaway, age 50, passed into the arms of his savior, on Thursday, May 21, 2015, after a lengthy battle with ALS. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife of 21 years, Cindy Turnbo Hathaway and daughters Sydney, 18, and Leah, 14, all of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is survived also by his mother, Joy Hathaway; a sister, Lynne Gibson and her husband Bobby; a brother, Lloyd Nelms and his wife Janie; and sister-in-law Gail Nelms; brother-in-law Jeff Turnbo and his wife Shannon; brother-in-law Scott Turnbo and wife Ruth. Preceding him in death are his father, John Paul "Jack" Hathaway; brothers Dion and Joe Nelms; sister Paula Ford, and grandparents Hulen and Ann Chandler and Elmer and Pearl Hathaway. Born in Wichita Falls, July 5, 1964, Jay attended schools in City View and is a graduate of Iowa Park High School, Colorado Christian University, Southwestern Seminary, and Devry Institute. Jay's professional life was devoted to helping others. He was a Licensed Professional Counselor and spent many years doing Biblical Counseling for churches, organizations, free ministries and inpatient treatment centers, and had been an associate pastor. In his early career he owned a mail marketing business in Wichita Falls with his father. A dedicated and loving dad and family man, he cherished time with his family, doing small group ministry, counseling, and sports. The family and friend visitation will be on Monday, May 25, 2015 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Lunn's Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, Texas. Jay's funeral service will be at First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, Texas on Tues., May 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life service will be held at North Church in Oklahoma City on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
