Janie Lee Gulley was born August 28, 1950 in Bonham, TX to Clovis James and Leona Pearl Gibson. She passed away on December 20, 2025 in Oklahoma City, OK.
She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, OK.
She married John Norvell Gulley, Jr. in November 1978.
Janie had a long and fulfilling career as a bookkeeper, working for several companies before ending her career as a bookkeeper and co-owner of John's Automotive.
Janie was known for her warm spirit and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed playing bingo, the card game 31, and word searches, dining at Red Lobster, and traveling whenever she could—especially trips to the beach. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and creating memories they will always treasure. A cancer survivor, Janie was a strong and determined woman whose resilience inspired those who knew her. She shared a deep and enduring love with her husband, John, and their bond of 47 years was a true testament to companionship. She will be fondly remembered for the love and joy she shared with those around her.
Janie is survived by her husband of 47 years, John; her daughters, Michelle Pexa, Tammy Edmonson, Tracy Fipps (and her wife, Mary Fipps), and Wendy Poynor (and her husband, Neil Poynor); her son, John N Gulley III; and her sisters, Lela Ritchie, Dorothy Fagg, and Linda Gail Smith; as well as several grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, December 26 from 12pm-8pm with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Service will be 10am at Mercer-Adams Chapel on Saturday, December 27, 2025 with interment to follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
