Janet Parish Lundy passed away October 1, 2023 in Oklahoma City. She was born on May 20, 1942 in Laverty, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood and school years at Pioneer School near Chickasha. Janet met and married J.W. Lundy in 1963, they were married for 52 years.
Janet worked at Wesley Hospital and became interested in histology. After many years working in the hospital system, Janet was able to establish her own business, Precision Histology Lab, in Oklahoma City. She served the medical community in her business for 33 years.
Janet had a terrible accident as she was melting paraffin for histological slides and the paraffin caught fire. In an effort to get the flaming paraffin outside, her clothing caught fire and she fell out of the back door. J.W. worked with his bare hands to put out the fire. Sadly, she was seriously burned over 38% of her body. After months of rehab and plastic surgery, she finally recovered enough to continue her work. In her effort to help other burn patients, Janet established the Burn Support Group at Integris Baptist Hospital and she became a recipient of KOCOs Five Who Care Award in 1993.
Janet was a loving and caring wife, sister and aunt. For the past several years, Janet has been in the care of J.W.s brother, J.C. Lundy and Vickie Lee.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.W., and three older brothers, Joe Parish, Dan Parish and Jim Parish. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ella Evans, Ruthan Parish, Alonah Smith and Rachel Parish.
With joy, Janet and J.W. are reunited and together forever!
