Obituary

Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 2nd, 1956, Jami began a life of being a leader. As editor of her high school newspaper and yearbooks, Jami found her love for creativity. Throughout her life on this earth, she absorbed all she could about creative arts. Jami was a published poet, an amazing mother, and a soul mate. On October 2nd, 1981, (her 25th birthday), she married James (Jimmy) Palmer of Wanette, Oklahoma, who preceded her in death on November 3rd, 2012. Jami was also preceded in death by her father, James Reid and uncle, Bob Dunn. She is survived by her mother, Edna Reid, along with sister, Karen Stowe and her husband Gary. Jami has two sons, Joe, along with wife, Kim, and their children Alex, Tanner and Landon, and Jeremy, and his partner, Joe Walker. Jimmy's sister, Sylvia Petrey and her husband Wendell completed the puzzle to their extraordinary family. With their daughters, Tara Carpenter and husband Tym, children Grace and Elijah, Amanda Petrey and boyfriend Jeff Dillon, and Samantha Petrey along with boyfriend Chris Curnutt. In Jami's mind, the term in-law didn't exist. It was just family. Throughout the course of her family history, Jami was proud to add Tym and Jill's daughter, Madison, along with Ray and Jill McElhaney and their children, Bennett and Greyson, to her circle of love. She had a multitude of close friends and family that Jami held close to her heart ~ Angela Lewis, Mike Fowler, Karly Meadows, just to name a few. Jami was a wealth of knowledge and support to everyone who knew her. If she didn't know the answer, she didn't stop until she found it. Jami loved creating anything she could. Whether it was handmade arts and crafts, beautiful home decorations or clothing, to jewelry and immaculately executed poetry, Jami had a way of improving everything she touched. While sometimes struggling financially, and not only supporting two boys, Jami somehow took care of Jimmy, who fought health problems from an early age. Jami was courage. Jami was strength. Anyone who crossed paths with her immediately felt her courage, her love, and quite frequently her opinion. Jami taught us all to love each other, respect each other and to hold each other accountable. Although her time on earth was fairly brief, she left a legacy of strong-willed, grounded people, who will forever improve the world they live in. Jami is now creating beautiful things in heaven, half listening to jokes being hurled at her by her true love. Sleep sweet, you beautiful, strong, courageous lady. You and me kid. Always and forever. Services will be Saturday, October 12, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Wanette Cemetery, Wanette, Oklahoma. Funeral Service Saturday, October 12, 2013 10:00 AM Mercer-Adams Chapel 3925 N. Asbury Bethany, OK 73008
