Obituary

Jami Dawn Black was born on October 12, 1969 to Jim and Kathy Fox at Edmond Memorial Hospital and raised in Crescent, Oklahoma. She left us quite suddenly to be with Jesus for eternity on Friday, May 29th, 2015 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Her grandparents, Jackie and Bill McDonald, preceded her in death as well as her "Mema and Papa" - Lois and Thomas Fox. She loved her Mema and Papa so much and shared so many wonderful stories with everyone. If you knew Jami, you knew how special they were to her. She is survived by her husband, Robert Black, daughter, Hanna Mariah Pavao, son, Jude Matthew Black, mother, Kathy Fox, father, Jim Fox, Uncle Billy McDonald, Uncle Bill Fox, as well as many other family members. After high school, Jami worked as a stylist at Village Headquarters where she made lifelong friends and began sharing her gift of creativity. Living life to the fullest, she embarked on a summer-long trip to the British Virgin Island of Tortola, along with her dearest friend, Tami Conn, and Tami's daughters. They came with little, but left with much. Jami grew to love the beach and island people so much that in future years - this would become her favorite spot in the world. Her first marriage to Mike Pavao resulted in a move to Farmington, New Mexico, where she gave birth to her daughter, Hanna Mariah Pavao. They later moved to Dallas, Texas, and after she and Mike parted ways, she became an accomplished baker at a bakery named Delicious Cakes - which she playfully referred to as "Crazy Cakes." Jami's cakes were nothing short of delicious and creative -nothing crazy about them! She moved back to Oklahoma City where, in 1999, she met the man of her dreams - Robert Eugene Black. On October 27, 2001, they married on a beach in Tortola. In 2003, Jami gave birth to their son - Jude Matthew Black. Her greatest contribution to the world was as a devoted and adoring mother and wife. She loved her family fiercely, keeping in constant touch with her father, Jim. She spent much of her life blessing others; in most recent years, she served as caretaker for her mother, Kathy. She loved all animals with a passion: birds, turtles, cats, and especially dogs. Her dogs, Max, Trudy, Nickel, and Dimin,' will miss her dearly. She also loved the Texas Rangers and the Oklahoma Sooners, and was one of their biggest armchair cheerleaders. Jami had a heart for those less fortunate, making little goodie bags she had filled with necessities to keep in her car for her and her children to hand out while they were out running errands. She couldn't stand to think that others had need; she wanted to provide for others, whether they were homeless or just on hard times. We will miss her smile, her laugh, and her love for others. Most of all, we will miss Jami. Memorial service will be Wednesday, June 10, 2:00pm at Crossings Community Church Chapel, 14600 N. Portland, OKC.
