On a day free from the clouds and the cold, James William Wheeler Jr. passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at the age of 65. He was closely surrounded by many of his family and friends. Born May 21, 1944, Jim was an amazing man who accomplished many things throughout his life. He served his country with pride during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after putting in over thirty years of hard work and dedication. And he was full of enough love to raise two families in his lifetime. He is survived by his wife Tracy Wheeler after only having been able to spend twenty-two years with her. He is also survived by six of his children: Bill Wheeler and wife Terry; Jackie Anderson and husband Tim; Karen Jacobs and husband Robert; David Wheeler and wife Andrea; Christine McGlashen and husband Wade and Jenni Green. He is preceded in death by his son Robbie. Jim Wheeler left behind seventeen grandchildren and a new great-grandson. He will be terribly missed but easily remembered. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Integris Foundation (3030 NW Expressway, Suite 1600, Oklahoma City, OK 73112) in Jim Wheelers name to go to assist families who have limited means after a loved one receives an organ transplant. The family encourages everyone to become an organ and tissue donor and help another in need as someone did for Jim. Services to be held Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11:00am at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
